Dear Mr. Lapham:
I am a member of the Special Litigation Unit/INS, which was
recently formed in the Justice Department to investigate
allegations of uar crimes about persons who a---e said to-have
entered the United States illegally following World War II.
We have been informed that Alexius Erlanger may be such a
person. I would therefore appreciate being advised of any
information pertaining to . him in your files. Mr. Erlanger
was born at Moscow on February 12, 1914, resided in Russia
until 1919, in Italy between 1919 and 1926, in. Germany from
1926 to 1939, in France between 1939 and 194.3, in Spain between
1943 and 1947, in Argentina from 1947 to 1954, and in Brazil
from 1954 to 1957. He now lives in Buffalo, New York.
It is not necessary at this time for us to have copies of any
materials in your possession. -
