Byrd, Jr. (Indep., Va. ). We scheduled the briefing for 3:30 p.m. this afternoon in the Minority Leader's office. Mr. Liebengood later called and said that Senators Barry M. Goldwater (R., Ariz.) and Birch Bayh (D., Ind.) will also attend. STAT 7. LIAISON DIA, called to ask for the clearances of Guy McConnell, Jim Fellenbaum, and Pete Bonner, all on the staff of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which I gave to him. STAT 8. LIAISON Received a call from Ellen STAT Williams, in the office of Representative John Burton (D., Calif.), who asked if we could provide the Congressman a map of the Middle East. I told her I felt sure we had such a map and would be glad to send it to her, but if I ran into any problems I would be back in touch. 9. LEGISLATION Called Dave Barrett, at the Department of Justice, to check on my request for a transcript of Attorney General Griffin Bell's testimony at the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Civil and Constitutional Rights hearing on H. R. 10400, the FBI charter legislation, held on 28 February 1978. Mr. Barrett said he had not received a transcript, but would notify me when he does receive it. 10. LEGISLATION Talked with Dave Barrett, at the Department of Justice, who asked if I had received his proposed language for S. 1845, the polygraph bill, which he mailed on 15 February. Since I had not, we made arrangements to have a courier pick up a copy tomorrow. 11. LEGISLATION Called George Howe, at the Civil Service Commission, about the Civil Service reform draft bill. He told me it will be introduced tomorrow by Representative Robert N. C. Nix (D. , Pa.). INTERNAL USE ONLY
