who requested two copies of "Maps of the World's Nations - Western

Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, copies of two recent newspaper
articles: "Korea's Secret Code Broken by U. S. , " from the 24 May 1978
Washin ton. Star, and "Suspicious Involvement is Cited by Representative
Caputo, " from the 26 May 1978 Washington Post.. .
5. (Unclassified - RJK) LIAISON Called Bill Goold, on the staff
of Representative Donald J. Pease (D., Ohio), and gave him an unclassified
update on economic conditions in Uganda. Ile asked that we keep him. up to
date on developments and I agreed to do so.

Chief of Staff, House International Relations Committee, about compartrnented
clearances for Thomas Sxneeton, Minority Staff Consultant. Brady said go
ahead and process the clearances but that he wanted to draw the line on
clearances soon.

15. (Unclassified - RJW) LEGISLATION Called the Subcommittee
on Legislation and National Security of the House Government Operations
Committee to check on the status of H. R. 12171, the "Federal Accounting
and Auditing bill of 1978." 1 was informed that one day of hearings has
already been held on 16 May at which time Comptroller General Staats
testified; I was further informed that the Subcommittee has scheduled
another day of hearings on 20 June at which time witnesses from OMB and
Justice Department are scheduled to testify.
16. (Unclassified -- RJW) LEGISLATION Called the Subcommittee
on Civil and Constitut?x.or..al Rights of the House Judiciary Committee to
check on the status of H. R. 10400, an "FBI Charter" bill. I was informed
that no action is scheduled on the bill, but the Subcommittee hopes to have
a

no ery of hearings later on in the summer.
19. (Unclassified -" DFM) ADMINISTRATIVE DELIVERIES
Delivered to Susan Mahler, Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
staff, Headquarters Instruction Sheets
respectively, for Bill Miller, Committee Staff Director; and
a letter to Senator Birch Bayh (D. , Ind. ), Committee Chairman, from
Lyle L. Miller, Acting Legislative Counsel, regarding the Committee
request to the Director for additional information related to SALT II.
