SUBJECT: Notification of Congressional Briefings on SALT
REFERENCE: Memo for OLC, From Deputy Director for National
Foreign Assessment, Same Subject, Dated 13 Oct 78

1. ( IUO) On SALT-related briefings on the Hill, today I
spoke with Bob Beckel, Special Assistant for Congressional Liaison
(White House), who Patty DeSousa, secretary to Frank Moore, Assistant
to the President for Congressional Liaison, said is responsible for
handling SALT matters. It was agreed that we would report to either
Beckel or Lillian Brooks, who works with him. All we need to provide
to them is who is going to be briefed and the general topic, e.g.,
verification. In making the call, we are not coordinating or getting
approval for the briefing, it is clear.
2. ( IUO) Mr. Beckel also said he wanted to talk to us further
about a group he intends to chair, a la Legisla..'ve Interdepartmental
