your star cou d prepare a response to Mr. Latimer's letter
not later than 2 March 1978 so that we may have it in the
Chairman's hands by next Friday, 3 March 1978. The response
should be prepared in such a manner that its contents may be
forwarded to Chairman Boland for passage to his constituent.
Therefore, it is not necessary for AF to respond to specific
allegations as in the January request. A general denial,
assuming that is the case, of CIA effort to "destabilize-
and undermine the Government of South Africa along with
several illustrations of where the publication is incorrect
Director of the Committee, requests our assistance in this task.
As you might recall, Africa Division fulfilled a similar
request in January of this year. I have 'attached a copy of
both that request and your response thereto, to this memorandum.
