As you know, the Agency over the past two years has made available
thousands of documents to the House Select Committee on Assassinations
in an effort to assist the Committee with its investigation of the assassina-
tion of John Kennedy. The next phase of the Committee's investigation
will be public hearings, and we expect much discussion of CIA-related
topics during the hearings.
To better enable you to understand some of the issues which we
believe will surface, in the public hearings, I am enclosing a study
prepared within the Agency last year commenting on Book V of the
Final Report of the Church Committee, which dealt with Performance
of the Intelligence Agencies with the Investigation of President Kennedy's
death.
