Your letter of 21 April 1978 asked that a report listing the
Agency's existing paramilitary stocks and projected acquisitions
be provided together with an explanation as to why these acquisitions
are necessary. The attached report is in response to this request.
As you know, the Central Intelligence Agency's 1979 Evdget
contains no funds for procurement of ordnance for the paramilitary
stockpile. The Office of Management and Budget is currently examining
our proposed 1980 program, and we will be prepared to discuss fully
any request for ordnance procurement during the hearings early next
year.
If there is any need for further discussion of the details
presented in the enclosure, we will be harpy to pursue this further
with your staff.
