Counsel, Senate Foreign Relations Committee, whoa; told me that another letter requesting information concerning the Subcommittee on International Operations' investigation of foreign intelligence activities in the United States had been sent to us. I told Glennon that we were working on the request contained in his several previous letters and that I would be back in touch w:i.th Mall during the early part of the week of 24 July. 3. LIAISON Called Paul O'Connell, on the staff of the Morgan-Schmitt Senate Select Committee on Ethics Subcommittee, to tell him that we were still working on his request for information concerning the Subcommittee' s :investigation of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence oil. study leak. He said he had briefly read the copy sent to Senator John C. Culver (D., Iowa) and did not feel that the report substantially changed the substance of the briefing given to his Subcommittee early last year. will handle. S. LIAISON Called Lt. Col. Grant Miller, Leg:tis ? tine :_iairs, Department of Defense, and discussed setting up a meeting with. his people and representatives of the Agency to discuss procedures to implement the compartmented clearance program for the Legislative Branch. He will call me next Tuesday to set up a meeting for sometime on Wednesday. 6. HEARINGS At DDO's request, attended the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration., Citizenship and International Law hearings on alleged Nazi war criminals to hoar the testimony of Mr. Anthony DeVito, author and former Immigration and Naturalization inspector. (See Memorandum for the Record. dated 19 July 1.978. ) 7. LEGISLATION Called John Gavin, Justice Department,. to inform him that H.R. 121.71, the "Federal Accounting and fud: tang Act of 1978" was ordered reported by the House Government Operations Committee. I also informed. Mr. Gavin that we would be requesting Representative Edward P. Boland (1). , Hass, Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, to take "sequent:ia.l referral" of the bill. 8. LEGISLATION Called Bob Carlstrom, OMB) to _inform him o:: the latest developments in the House Government Operations Commit. too on II.IZ. 1217:1., the "Federal Accounting and Auditing" bill. I told Mr. Ca.rlstrom that we had submitted a views letter to the Committee. He requested a drop copy. I also told him we are seriously considering requesting 1-louse Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence to take "sequential referral" of the bill. I told Mr. Carlstrom I would keep him informed.
