14. LIAISON Received a call from. Ed Greis sing,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, who asked that I meet with
him as he had two additional requests from the House Select Committee on
Assassinations to review transcripts of Agency employees testimony before
the Church Committee.
15. LIAISON Received a call from Stan Taylor,
Senate Select Committee on Intelligence staff, and confirmed the briefing
of Senator Jake Carn (R. , Utah) tomorrow.
16. LIAISON Loch Johnson, House Permanent
Select Committee on Intelligence staff, came out to the Headquarters building
for a briefing b sat in as 25X1

Africa generally as well as the specifics of CIA activities in 25X1
The briefing was excellent and l believe that Mr. Johnson was very satisfied
with it.
Later Mr. Johnson met with Herb Hetu and in the 25X1

.17. LIAISON Called Roy Werner, Senate
Foreign Relations Committee staff, to get a better grip on the purpose
underlying his request for a briefing on Vietnam and confirmed that it will
take place on Wednesday, 14 June at 1400 hours in Room 4304 of the Dirksen
Senate Office Building. He told me that his purpose was to get himself
back -up to date on Vietnam and that he had no special purpose in mind, and
most certainly was not particularly concerned about the refugee situation.
18. 1~IAI.SON Sat in on a briefing of Luis
Zinardi, Internationa ivision C7, by C/Terrorism Branct5X1
on the capabilities of foreign services to cope with terrorism. This took

13. L LGISLA'.t'ION Called the House Judiciary
Committee to check on the status of 11. R. 11002, the. "Contract Disputes ?
Act of 1978. " 1 was informed that the bill is pending before the full Con-in-iittee,
that Subcommittee action has been completed and that II. R. 11002 represents
a. new "clean bill. " The bill was scheduled for action this month but because
of a crowded schedule action on the. bill has been postponed.
14. LFIGISLATION Called the Senate Governmental
Affairs Committee to check on the status of S. 1785, the "Lobbying Reform
Act of 1977. " I wa,:s informed that the bill is pending before the full Committee;
snarl.?-up is conter:'plated, but due to the C:om mittee's schedule on the Civil
Service bi.ll, the Lobbying marl -up has been postponed to date.
16. :LIAISON Received a call from Mike, in
the office of Representative John M. Ashbrook (R. , Ohio), who wanted to
come out and visit the CIA Library. I told him that this building is restricted
and that if he had business here he would have to be escorted. I asked hug if
he wanted to tell me what his general area of interest was so that perhaps
I could forward some unclassified materials to him. lie said he wanted to
do some sort of s1 udyVon the CIA but had not. decided what the exact subject
would be. After some discussion, it was decided that I would forward to
him some general information about the Agency and the DOCEX listing.
N. LIAISON Called Bill Hogan, Counsel,
House Armed Services Committee staff, and told him we were working on
his request for comments on the heavy forging trade, but would need another
week. Hogan was appreciative of the call and inclic',itcd no hurry for a response.

on the DCI's briefing of the Committee on the Cuban involvement in the
invasion of Zaire.
27. LIAISON Called Colonel Grant Miller,
Congressional Liaison, DOD, to ask whether they have received a copy
of the 24 May letter from Representative Robert McClosky (R., Ill.) to
President Carter on the subject of the foreign electronics surveillance
bill. He said that they had but that they were not planning to take action
on it.
28. I LIAISON Tom Latimer, Staff Director,
House Permanent Selec, - C mii-tee on Intelligence, called suggesting that
the briefer for tomorrow's session with the Committee (to brief the
Committee on the President's 7 June Finding) be prepared to talk about
the 13 June Washington Post article on Martha Peterson, provision of
poison to Soviet agents, and the like.

31. LIAISON Tom Latimer, Staff Director,
House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, received a call from
the office of Representative Elizabeth Holtzman (D., N. Y.) asking how
many CIA officers have received dismissal slips i.n the past two months
and how many of them have actually been dismissed. Office 25X1
of Personnel, informed me slips and that none have 25X1
left. I passed this on to Latimer.
Latimer asked me to sct'up'a meeting for himself and Loch Johnson, also
of the Committee staff, with John Waller, Inspector General. The purpose
of this meeting would be to work out procedures for future Agency or
ex-Agency employees with beefs--both legitimate and illegitimate. I have
passed this request on to
32. LIAISON Jeanne McNally, House
Permanent Select Committee I staff, called requesting the
name(s) of any witnesses who would be accompanying John McMahon, DDO,
in his 14 June briefing of the Committee on the 7 June Presidential Finding.
After checking with Mr. McMahon's office, I told her that
attending. I added that I well might be attending too.

33. LIAISON Picked up from Major Lonny
Alexander, Air Force Liaison, two portfolios of photographs taken during
the House Armed,$erv;ices Committee visit to the Soviet Union. These
were passed on the OCR, for their review and will be
returned to Major Alexander within a few days.
.ADMINISTRATIVE DELIVERIES

Delivered to House Armed Services Committee a package for Representative
Samuel S. Stratton (D., N.Y.). It was a photo of Brezhnev and several
Generals, which appeared in Newsweek recently. At the Congressman's
request, CSS/NFAC, had identified the Generals who
appeared in the photo.
35. LIAISON Called Richard Kaufman,
General Counsel, Joint Economic Committee,. to confirm that the Director
would be able to appear before the Subcommittee on Priorities and
Economy in Government at 1000 hours on 26 June as request Kaufman
appreciated this and asked that we provide as much of the information
the Committee has requested in advance of the briefing. I passed this
request on to CSS/NFAC.
