8. ohn Tipton, GAO, called to alert
us that author Charles Allen is writing a book on Nazi war criminals in
the United States. Tipton said he interviewed Allen during the GAO
investigation and Allen indicated that his book will make strong allegations
of CIA involvement with alleged war criminals. In the early 1.960's Allen
wrote a strong article on German defector and alleged Nazi war criminal
Flilger.
LIAISON Judy Schneider, on the staff of
the Senate Select (e.o:rnmittee on Ethics, came out to re-review CIA
documents related to the Committee's KCIAA, investigation. She alerted
us that. the Committee will release next Tuesday, Da 30 page
report and testimony of witnesses, including Senators. The release
concerns information which the Committee has developed to date and
will not present any conclusions or recommendations. This will be
in the final report which the Committee hopes to release by September.
Schneider would not disclose what will. be in the release but said that the
names of the sitting Senators will come out. Schneider said that no
Agency information is in the release and cleared portions of it with the
Department of Justicel Krrangements were made for advance
copies of the release to be picked up Monday afternoon.
10.1 1 LIAISON Larry Sulc and Gordon Freedman,
on the staff of the/Ilouse International Relations Subcommittee on International
Organizations, met with I PCS/PGL," and
DDO/EA Division, to go over CIA documents related to the Subcommittee's
KCIA investigation which they had previously reviewed. (See Memorandum
)

11. LIAISON Arthur .Endres, on the staff of the
House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Citizenship, and International
Law, called and confirmed a meeting on Monday morning with me and
CS/PGL, in Endres' office to review the case summaries
o. documents related to the Subcommittee's investigation of alleged
Nazi war criminals and to review a draft of the Memorandum of Understanding
between Chairman Joshua Eilberg (D., Pa.) and the DCI.
