Hitz Office of the Legislative Counsel Central Intelligence Agency Washington, D. C. Dear Mr. Hitz: On December 19, 1977, on behalf of the Subcommittee on International Operations and pursuant to the memorandum of understanding between the Chairman and the DCI, I asked that you make available to us documents relating to the activities in the U.S. of the intelligence services of the Soviet Union. Specifically, I asked (in item (2)) for any information the Agency may have disseminated to its "customers", especially the FBI. (As you know, we are not interested in traditional intelligence activities such as espionage, but rather are concerned about efforts to harrass, intimidate, or surveil persons in the United States.) I would at this time reiterate that request and ask that it be expanded to encompass Yugoslavia as well. In addition, I would appreciate your arranging for John Ritch and me to interview as soon as possible persons in the Agency who have a knowledge of the activities of the Yugoslav intelligence services in the U.S. Finally, we would also be grateful to re-interview George INU, whom we interviewed initially on December 14, 1977. Sincerely, Cnff eb .cif of ez ,J enaf e Michael GleAnon Legal Counsel
