TITLE/SIGNIFICANCE:
F-27 LONG RANGE PATROL AIRCRAFT
COMMENT: The Republic of the Philippines recently received the first of three modified
versions of the Fokker F-27 Martime Patrol Aircraft. This aircraft, designated the
"Long Range Air Patrol" (LRAP) by the Philippine Air Force, will be used for broad area
ocean surveillance. Key identification features include two mid-wing mounted fuel tank
pods, two blistered-out cockpit side windows, and a large radome on the underside of the
fuselage. If the modified F.-2.7 is successful here, other third world nations may
consider this economical and reliable aircraft for their nwn slirve;llanrP programs.
