TITLE/SIGNIFICANCE:
S-TYPE HEAVY PONTON TRAINING EXERCISE IDENTIFIED IN CHINA
'COMMENT: An S-type heavy ponton training exercise was identified on the Nanpan Jiang
(River) in Kunming Military Region. Unlike the bridge assembly of the TPP heavy pontons,
the S-type pontons are joined side-to-side with little or no space between them. The
dimensions of the Chinese S-type pontons differ slightly from that of the North Korean
S-type pontons (IEG PI NOTICE No. 15-81). Four probable S-type ramp pontons and four
probable pile drivers mounted on single ponton sections were also observed with the
