Requirement DP/HTA/R33/58 Evaluation of Cable (CS-35935)
iTA/MSB Memo 177/58 dated 18 August 1958
1. Farther inspection of TA photography reveals several
installations of immediate interest on which further intelligence
should be acquired.
2. A single oblique TALENT photograph, with greater than
normal tilt, reveals that between the highways south of Domodedovo
ani Podolsk there are two, gui4ed missile sites of the inner ring.
They are both about 2(1 miles south of the Dasaodedovo/Podolsk road
mentioned in cable, Both are on veil engineered north/
south roads extending sou ward from a new, less pretentious east/
west road. These missile sites are identified as Nos. 48 and 2 in
earlier references. No. 48 is located between Dalmatovo and Shebantsevo;
No. 2 near R tsevo, approximately 15 miles to the west. Support
depots near these missile sites acne, not evident on the photography.
3. From visible intersection with the highway south of Domodedovo
the east/vest road mentioned abjve extends westward between Ivanovskvye
and Dalmatovo, south of the Rozhaya river, and presumably crosses both
railroad and highway, off the photography very near Kiimovsk. Although
the road is apparently of recent construction, it lacks the engineering
precision characteristic of the two main north/south highways in the
vicinity and of the roads lirectly serving the missile sites.
4. U`estjard fx Kiimovsk the east/west road is n, :,t covered by
hotogra.hy for several miles. It comes into view again south of the
Truitskoye village southwest of Podolsk. At this point it has a north-
.~est/southeast alignment and, with some cloud covered gaffs, can be
traced as far as Alabino on the Seo:A/Ma1ayaroalavets highway.
5. South of Troitskeye a missile site has been located on a short
branching eastward from Troitskoye/Malayaroslavets highway, and between
that highway and a north flowing stream. This site has been identified
as No. 4 of the inner ring series. The configuration of the site is
irregular, probably because of terrain features. A short distance east-
:.asrd along the branch road t'ere is a support depot.

SUBJECT: Requirement DP/RTA./R33/58 Evaluation of Cable
Continuing northweetward, the road connecting the missile sites
crosses the highway south of Te!)ly Stan, Desna, and Krasnaya Pak-lira near
the village of Chirikovo. A short distance northwest of there another
s:)uth'ward branch road leads to missile site No. b. It is located in the
forest southeast of the village of Yartsevo, about two-thirds if the
distance from Yartsevo to the highway south of Chirikovo. Near it there
are three support depots: two northward on a separate branch road and
one irediately southward of the missile site itself.
7. Southwest of Podolsk and southeast of the village of Oznodi shin,
there is a recently installed Krug radio station. Its approach is from
the south via an irregular, second grade r .hose point of origin is
la+;king an the photography.
8. On the western outskirts of Naro-Fcminsk there is a tank and
warehouse storage area that should be evaluated if possible. It lies
to the north of the railway and is served by an U-shaped loop of
railway of which both ends terminate in a westward direction with
switches onto the main railway line. The surrounding forest cover
may ,revent full observation but a sharp observer could furnish
additional data.
9. With respect to each of these radio, missile, and support sites
and the recently constructed connecting road facilities, there is need
for further information. Accessibility of approach and nature of guard
and security services, details of layout and construction, and nature
of activity at the sites themselves are major items of interest.
