1. A pilot with the rank of 2nd lieutenant in the Polish Air Force
received 1,200 zloty a month base pay; he also received additional
pay of 2 zloty? 15 groszy a minute for weather flying and 1 zloty,
25 groszy for night flying. When pilots performed weather or
night flying, they always tried to prolong their time in flight
for this additional pay. An instructor pilot's additional pay
for night and weather flying averaged approximately 2,400 zloty
per month. When on furlough all officers received 40 zloty a
day in addition to their base pay. Officers on flying status
were given room and board free of charge. A 2nd lieutenant in
the Polish Air Force on a non-flying status received 1,000 zloty
per month, of which 600 zloty were taken out for room and board.
