Until 1952 MOB personnel were permitted to - have their families in they .Soviet Zone of Germany. However, since -the Summer of 1952, MOB personnel no longer had that privilege, When personnel who already had their wives in Germany proceeded on leave to the USSR vith their wires, the women were'not allowed to return'to Germany. Only Army commanders and high-ranking generals were allowed to have their wives with them in Germany after the Summer of 1952. Maj. Gen. (tnu) KALINICHENKO, CO of the 4th Gde, Mecz, Army, sent his wife back to the USSR in 1953 because it was rumored that his chief of staff, Maj. Gen. (fnu) KOSHELYOVV (his equal in rank) did not enjoy the same privilege of having his wife with him.. 4+. Military. officers and noncommissioned officers (Sverkhsrochniki) were allowed to 'marry female military officers,, female ssoldiere, or civilian employees; this privilege was denied to EM.
