due to the poor pass policy and badly prepared -
food, morale in the 2d Mecz Bn was not good. Only personnel who
grasped their political subjects received passes; the remainder
had to wait long periods of time before they were considered for
passes. Leaves were few and far between. In the 2d Mecz Bn there
was a shortage of good cooks. The ones preparing food for the
battalion were inexperienced. EM received enough food but its
quality was poor.
