In July 1952, a former infantry officer, trans-
ferred to PS forces, who was a platoon leader at the PS Training
Center in Bratislava. This officer was being transferred to Decmn.
where he said a new PS brigade was being formed. I
the other two locations through a conversation at 11th PS Brig.
Hq. in Bratislava. According to hearsay informatiOn, the three new
brigades were to take over guard duties somewhere in the northeast
sector of Czechoslovakia, where Bohemia borders Poland. This sector
was being guarded by Polish units.

a. Organizational chart of the 11th PS Brig., and its subordinate
units is shown in Encl. A, attached.
b. Organizational chart of the 2nd PS En,, .11th PS Brig., includ-
ing a breakdown of the 6th rS Co., is shown in Encl. B, attached.
co An estimate of equipment of the 2nd PS En., 11th PS Brig., is
given in Encl. Cs attached.
d. An estimate of equipment of auxiliary units of the llth PS Brig.
is given in Encl. D$ attached.
e. The arms room of the 6th PS Co., 2nd PS En., 11th PS Brig.,
stocked only six extra weapons. These were for issue in case of
malfunction in other weapons issued to personnel. The reserve
weapons were three rifles, German, Model 98N, and three SMG's,
Czech, Model 25. About 200 Model 4 offensive grenades were
stored in the arms room, In addition to about 100 already issued
to personnel going on duty. The 6th PS Co. had the following
ammunition on hand:
For SMG's - approximately 12,000 rounds
? For rifles - approximately 10,000 rounds
Approximately 40 white flares
Approximately 20 green flares
Approximately 20 red flares
When going on border patrol, the EM were instructed not to load
their weapon magazines to capacity, in order to conserve the
springs in the magazines. A guard on patrol armed with a rifle,
would carry four rounds in the five-round magazine, plus 60
rounds in paper boxes holding 15 rounds each. Guards armed with
SMG's carried 120 rounds in five magazines. Each magazines with
a 32-round capacity, held 24 rounds. In addition, each guard
carried an aluminum flare pistol either suspended from his belt
or in a leather pouch on his back. This pouch also contained
four white, two red, and two green flares and four Model 4
offensive grenades. If a guard used a flare, he had to account
for it to the CO in writing, upon completion of his patrol.
The guard upon completion of his tour of duty on the border had
to turn in to the arms room his weapon, ammunition, flares and
his flare pistol. At no time were the guards permitted to take
their arms or ammunition to their barracks. The 6th PS Co: had
no searchlights of any type. At night they carried flashlights,
believed to be German-made, which were in poor condition.
In March 1953, a HMG would be assigned
to the 6th PS Co., in the near future, This HMG was to be used
only for training, unless there was an invasion by enemy forces,
in which case it would also be used in combat. Similar HMG
sections had already been organized in PS units guarding the
border between Czechoslovakia and the US Zone of Germany.
The crew would be comprised of two EM from headquarters section
and one EM from each LMG section, and would be organized as
follows:
1 Sgt Section leader
1 Cpl Gunner
1 PFC Asset gunner
2 Pvt's Ammunition carriers
