The Polish Navy was divided into three major geographical Sectors (Sektor). 1- These three Sectors were each subdivided in the five Sections (Odcinek) described below ffaragraph 4, 7. I do not know in what cities the Sector headquarters were located or what areas comprised each Sector. . The Headquarters of the Polish Navy (Dowodztwo Marynarki Wojennej) which was located in Gdynia, was subordinate to the Navy General Staff (Sztab Generalny) in Warsaw. The Navy General Staff was subordinate to the Ministry of Defense (Ministerstwo Obrony Narodowej) in Warsaw. 3. The Gdynia Naval Headquarters, commanded by Vice was accommodated in a building complex 27Verlay, the west side of 1{cpsciuszko Square verlaY, Pt quarters was separated from Kosciusz o Square by (Ulica Waszyngtona) Zdverlay, Pt. 17. 4. 50X1 50X1 50X1 Admiral CZERAKOW, Pt. 117 located at . 17. Section for Combat Training (Wydzial Wyszkolenia Bojowego). This section was resPOnsible for training men for land combat. Naval Air Force (Lotnictwo Morskie). d. Department of the Naval Fleet (Jednostki Plywajace Marynarki Wojennej). This department had control over the naval ports in Oksywie 5 54-13, E 18-317, Swinoujscie, and Kolobrzeg 5 54-11, E 15-317. (1) Section for Submarines (Okrety Podwodne). Of the three submarines I heard of -- the RYS, SEP, and ZBYK -- none were able to submerge because they did not have the required batteries. e. Cadre (Kadra), which conirolle Specialists' School 50X1 in Ustka, ZS. 54-35, E 16-1541.7, and the guard companies (Kompania Wartownicze). embe guard companies, who wore the usual naval uniforms, guarded ammunition magazines, arms magazines, offices, barracks, etc. These were never referred to as naval infantry (Morska Piechota). Their insignia was two crossed rifles worn on the left sleeve. 50X1 (1) There were about five' guard companies of 120 to 140 men each, armed with carbines in Oksywie. They were housed in military barracks located about three kilometers north of Okeywie close to the seacoast. I Y.; There were about two guard companies of-the same strength in Kolobrzeg. There were no guard companies in Ustka probably because of the proximity of the Sea Specialists' School. e of Naval Coastal Artiller (Artyleria Nadbrzezna arki Wojennej) in Gdynia. fThe only coastal artillery units I heard of were inj. (1) Acolobrzeg, where a unit of 12 Soviet guns, which I believe were of heavy caliber were located. In 50X1 1949 a great deal of building was in progress in This area. Many new barracks were being built and older buildings and 50X1 barracks were being enlarged. New concrete bunkers were being installed along the coast for a distance of about two kilometers west of Kolobrzeg.
