d. Department of the Naval Fleet (Jednostki Plywajace Marynarki

Section for Submarines (Okrety Podwodne). Of the three
submarines I heard of -- the RYS, SEP, and ZBYK -- none
were able to submerge because they did not have the
required batteries.

(Kompania Wartownicze). embe guard companies, who
wore the usual naval uniforms, guarded ammunition magazines,
arms magazines, offices, barracks, etc. These were never
referred to as naval infantry (Morska Piechota). Their insignia
was two crossed rifles worn on the left sleeve.

There were about five' guard companies of 120 to 140 men
each, armed with carbines in Oksywie. They were housed
in military barracks located about three kilometers north
of Okeywie close to the seacoast.
I Y.;
There were about two guard companies of-the same strength
in Kolobrzeg. There were no guard companies in Ustka
probably because of the proximity of the Sea Specialists'
School.
e of Naval Coastal Artiller (Artyleria Nadbrzezna
arki Wojennej) in Gdynia. fThe only coastal artillery
units I heard of were inj.
(1) Acolobrzeg, where a unit of 12 Soviet guns, which I believe
were of heavy caliber were located. In 50X1
1949 a great deal of building was in progress in This area.
Many new barracks were being built and older buildings and
50X1 barracks were being enlarged. New concrete bunkers were
being installed along the coast for a distance of about
two kilometers west of Kolobrzeg. These were small bunkers,
and I do not know what caliber gun would be accommodated
here.
