The Naval District of Kolobrzeg 5 54-11, E 15-3.7 comprised the Polish Baltic seacoast between just west of Darlowo 5 54-26, E 16-2170 This. and Dziwnow 54-02, E 14-4g, 2Tverlay:4Pt. 17. is Naval Dis rict's Command had its Headquarters in Kolobrzeg, 2.T5verlay2tPt. ig and was subordinate to the Gdynia Naval Headquarters only. The mission of this ',Command was to direct all naval affairs in the coastal area and the part of the Baltic Sea which bordered it. 2. The commanding officer of the Naval District, Kapitan CZESNIK, an artillery, officer, was also base commander of the Kolobrzeg Naval Base. Until about 1949, the base commander was designated port commander. He held the rank of lieutenant commander in the Polish Navy. In addition to the commanding officer and his political officer, the District and Base Command comprised fifteen Polish naval officers of lower ranks and two naval guard companies. The political officer was a Soviet lieutenant, senior grade, a Polish - Russian by birth, who wore a Polish naval uniform. 3. Under the command of the Base CO were the following: a. Polish Naval vessels during their stay in any of the harbors within the Naval District of Kolobrzeg. Offices and quarters of the District and Base Command Staff and of the' commanding officer were accommodated in a building, Overlay 2, Pt. 1.97, as part of a building complex, ffverlay 2, Pt. 5 wh,ch was loOated in the area between the harbor of Kolobrzeg, verlay 2, Pt and the beach, Overlay 2, Pt. 27, southwest of the harbor entrance, 7verlay 20 Pt. 7. The building complex comprised one main building Overlay 2, Pt. 7 which formerly served as a hotel for merchant seamen, and several other buildings in its immediate vicinity which were erected after 1945. 2:gee Sketch2 The entire complex was surrounded by two fences; the inner one was of wire mesh and the outer one of barbed wire. The Naval Communications Center Headquarters of Observation and Communication, Section No. 3, was housed in a three-story building, 27verlay 2, Pt. /7 .i.ocatec one to two kilometers south of the District Command buildings, Zdverlay 20 Pt. g. Two Naval guard companies (Kompania Wartown1ca6 made up of Polish Naval personnel, were stationed at the District Command Headquarters. These guard companies were between 120 to 140 strong each. They were quartered in the main building of the District Command. Their arma- ment consisted solely of light infantry weapons, such as rifles, pistols, and machine guns. The two companies were at the disposal of the Base commander. Their duties consisted of guarding the naval buildings in Kolobrzeg. The duty schedule provided for two or three days guard duty for one company while the other company trained. ?4 total of five observation points were maintained along the entire seacoast which made up the Kolobrzeg Naval District. Of these five points only three were operative during my presence. The remaining two were non-operative because of lack of personnel, but I heard that they were reopened in Octbber 1951. The locations of the observation points were as follows: a. Niechorze 5 54-06, E 15-27, 27ver1ay 1, Pt. g7. The observation point proper was located about one kilometer west of this town. ffee RC-19062 b. Mrzezyno E 15-1?7, 27verlay 1, Pt 17. I do not know any details on this observation point. e. Gaski 5 54-140 E 15-7, 27verlay 1, Pt. f7. The observation point was located in the dunes about one k lometer west of the Gaski lighthouse. d. Dziwnow, 276ver1ay 1, Pt. 17.
