I. The Central Bohemian Chemical Works, National Enterprise, in Roudnice
nad Labem 50-25, E 14-l7 produced ceramic dyes, glazings, and
frits. Un il the chemical industry was nationalized, the Roudnice
plant was at independent firm, Fr8hlich, Jermar & Co.,,Roudnice.
In 1946, the plant was made a part of the United Chemical Works,
Prague II, Stepanska 30, which in turn. was under the Czechoslovak
Chemical Works, National Enterprise. 'After the United Chemical
Works was broken up, the Roudnice factory became an independent
'Plant named the Central Bohemian Chemical Works, National Enterprise.
The plant at Roudnice had two branch plants; one in Velvary" 50-14,
E 14.117 and the other in Melnik 5 50-21, E 14-217. These vklel
branch plants were rather small, consisting of one building each
where Private businesses had 50X1
formerly been engaged in tne same work. Tne wnoie enterprise was

directly under the Ministry of Chemical Industry in Prague II,
Stepanska 30.
2. The Central Bohemian Chemical Works had two other smell production
buildihge, both located in Prague VM if these two 50:00
. installations still exist; it was planned to liquidate them.
3. The Roudnice plant was rather old and the exact 50:00
year when the plant was built. All the buildings of the plant
? were two-story, about 60 m. long, with the exception of the boiler
house and the administration building. There was no additional
construction going on and I never heard of any plans for expansion at

4. The Roudnice plant was situated on the main FraKtle-Pocily

E 14-117 railroad line and was connected with this maic. by
its own siding into the railroac4 station or ioce plant
was connected to the Main highway y a road 1.ading thr410 Roudnie
in the direction of Prague.
5. The three plants of the Central Bohemian Chemical Works produced
ceramic dyes, frits and glazings, enamels for the pottery, tile,
glass, and metal-enamelling industries, and ceramic frits for firing
temperatures. Other products included: enamelling frits, fritted
transparent glazes, prepared colored glazes (transparent or matted
for faience and majolica), artistic, fancy glazes,- luster. glazes.,
colored or transparent porcelain enamels, vitreous enamels for sheet
and cast iron,. onglaze paints, underglaze paints, paints for un-
fired glazes, relief enamels, porcelain paints, glass paints., glass
enamels, crystal ices, luster paints-, glaze stains, stains for
enamels on sheet and cast iron, prepared vitreous enamels for jewelry,
copper.; silver, gold and liquid gold.
6. The chief Consulter of these products was the glass and porcelain
industry in the Jablonec 5 50-43, E 15-117 area. Chemapol planned
to export 25,000,000 crowns worth of these products 1.n 1953 to Area
II - VI countries; three-fifths to go to Area V and VI.
7. The main raw products of the Central Bohemian Chemical Works were
metal oxides, 25,000,000 crowns worth of which were to be imported
In 1953 from Area IV - VII countries. The Czechoslovak National
Bank appropriated gold and silver. A large portion of the Roudnice
products were indirectly exported in the form of finished glass
and porcelain products of the Jabionec industry.
8. The Roudnice plant had its own boiler furnace for brown coal. There
was also a laboratory.
90 Security measures were the same as in other chemical plants. Pro-
duction formulas were always classified secret.
