Declassified in Part - Sanitized Copy Approved for Release @ 50-Yr 2013/09/25: CIA-RDP82-00046R000300290002-5 COUNTRY Czechoslovakia CONFTIAL SUIDECT CW Unit Shoulderboards DATE OF INFORMATION PLACE ACQUIRED 50X1 SOURC 1. 50X1 THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION REPO: '0 50X1 DATE DISTR. 29 March 3.954 NO. OF PAGES 1 REFERENCES: 5o:c'50X1 ANNIRSISMINNOWIIII sole ier, 50X1 50X1 a private first class, wearing brown shoulder boards, with a new type of insignia. I am not certain about the shape of the insignia, but I think it was either circular or oval. The insignia was made of brass like the field cap insignia (shield-shaped, with the Czech lion embossed on it) worn by the draftees. It was a solid piece of brass with an arrow embossed in the center. 2. The soldier wearing this type of insignia said that he was a member of a chemical warfare unit, located near Domazlice 5 49-26, E 12-5,g. He also said that his unit gave support to a nearby Border Guard (Pohranicni Straz - PS) unit, whenever reinforcements were needed in a search for IBC's. (I do not know anything about these units.) 3. I have no information on the significance of this badge when fovra on either brown or red shoulder boards nor on the significance of combat branch badges superimposed on red (infantry) 411oulder boards.
