There were three apartment buildings of similar construction located across Kozlovska Street from these buildings Pt. 2. - Kozlovska Street (Point 1, Enclosure A). Pt. 3. - Guard Point: on one occasion observed a guard walking 25X1 along the inside of the fence at this point. He carried a rifle and wore a dark blue uniform. believed this guard to be a member of 25X1 the Zavodni Milice (Plant Police). Pt. 4. - Bicycle Shed: approximately 80 x 4 m.; wooden roof; for bicycles of workers. Pt. 5., - Concrete Area: approximately 400 x 50 m. Pt. 6. - Building: 400 x 100-120 m.; five or six stories high; con- structed-of red brick with the exception of the front which believed was a dark stuccoed brick. n ows were large and numerous, approximately 5- m. wide, 1 m. high, and divided 25X1 into 4 or 5 sections. The rooms were approximately seven by four b y three meters and the 25X1 walls were-plaster. Floors were constructed of flagstone. There was conventional electric lighting, and steam heat was supplied possibly from the Central Plant Heating Unit located near the Prerov railroad station, which serviced 25X1 the schools, hospitals, and large office buildings in the city. The building was modern in appearance, and believed to have been constructed during the German 25X1 occupation. the west half of this building; contained the administrative offices of Meoota. spa entrance drive Point 9 led through building to open area (Point 5). Large wooden doors with high windows were located at each end of driveway. Pt. 7. - Entrance:J this entrance led to stairs to upper floors. Pt. 8. - Guard Office: small room whose location afforded a clear view of main entrance (Point 10) through windows. Guards conducted their business with visitors through a window o enin on interior drive side. ' The guards wore a dark blue uniform with a red band on left arm bearing the words Zavodni Milice (Plant Police). they also wore a yellow leather holster belt, and were armed with pistols. 25X1 Pt. 9.w Entrance Road: asphalt six meters wide,. narrowing to five meters :4t building entrance. Pt. 10. - Main Entrance: for vehicular traffic; six meters wide; pe- destrian entrance, 1i m. wide on either side of vehicular entrance. There was no guard at the gate,which was wire mesh topped with' or}e strand of barbed wire. located directly across Kozlovska Street from Meopta, extended approxi- mately 00 m. along . the street A wire fence on top of a low wall enclosed the ront which was 25 m. from the street. The area included 11-12 white stuceoed buildings with red tile roofs. Numerous'trees were located throughout the hospital area. Individual buildings were administrative offices, mortuary, childrens' ward, contagious disease ward, internal disorders ward, chapel, admittance offices, kitchen, and a central heating plant which was nearing completion in the summer of 1953. extended around 'entire plant area as shown on sketch. Pt. 13. - Fence: two meters high, wire mesh topped with one strand of barbed wire. this fence enclosed the entire Meopta plant. 25X1 25X1 Pt. 14. - Meopta Shop Building: this building was approximate) 25X1 L0a x 150-200 m., and five or six stories high. The building had numerous very large windows. he outer walls of the building were stuccoed 25X1 brick. observed man Workers through the large windows 25X1 _Pt. 15. - Vehicle Entrance: five or six meters wide, lame wooden doors with small windows at top. _dditional Information- The optical equipment plant Meopta was formerly called Opticotechna and is still referred to by the latter name by many people in-Prerov. The 25X1 change of- the plant name took place prior to Meopta was engaged in the ,production of lenses to be used in jet aircraft gun sights, the sights were completed 25X1 at Meopta and tested at the Czech airforce base southwest of Prerov. !. Employees worked six days a week; two work shifts: 0600 - 25X1 11400, and 11400 - 2200.
