When the communications company (rota svyazi) of the 135th Separate Air Warning Battalion was transferred to Rodaun (N 48-o8, E 16-17), 50X1 Austria, A four-storied stone building (Point 5, page 3), 20 m. x 20 m. with a gabled tile roof was turned over to communication company to/be used as quarters and an operations cen er. The individual photographs varied in size and shape (triangular, rectangular, etc.). About 15 to 17 photographs composed one map, having been fitted together accurately. 50)0 50X1 the maps found were of different areas. Altitude from wrilcn the photographs were taken could not be estimated. Each map appeared to have one small town with its immediate surroundings. The film was 19 cm. wide and 19?al.'-long as marked on the container. Another inscription read- "VskryVatA. polnoy temnotye" (To be opened in complete darkness). i 1 ioxi ImAny empty -metal containers were found in the house. These containers bore German inscriptions. The individual glass plates measured approximately 23 cm. x 28 cm. and were packed sideways. The number of plates in one case was unknown H It seemed 50)0 that each glass plate consisted of two thin glass plates,thiokness unknown, glued together with some sort of substance whi a a t a earance. the photo unit stationed here previously was moved to a new location slightly to the north. . transmitting center (Point 1, page .5), a Dombed-out antitank grenade factory. One single- storied wooden barrack was constructed for use as a transmitting station. Five VN erson e e mess ha was a stone ull - ngs ree-storie with a gabled tile roof, 40 m. x 25 m. x 15 m. In addition to the mess hall, this building housed an unidentified air force unit of company strength./ a detachment of air force soldiers being marched to the mess hall. The detachment numbered 18 soldiers, all enlisted men. They wore the nswil air force uni- forms with no special insignia. Other air force soldiers that these men belonged to a photo unit which recently moved into the vicinity. The soldiers came from the eastlalong the road (Point 4. ngag. 3)0 a description of which is not recalled. t their duty station was located 300-500 m. east of the mess hall. I the airmen were from the unit Which had previously occupied the four-storied stone building into which the Communications Company of the 135th Separate Air Warning Battalion (VNOS) moved in June 1954 (Point 5, page 3).
