Issue_ Source stated that this pistol hsla haPn issued to certain battalion officers at Some unknown date the 1st Mtrs Inf Bn. These included the battalion CO, tne bsrcalin chief of staff, 50X1 and all company CO's in the battalion, making a total of six pistols thus issued. Source added that this number was prescribed in the battalion T/O & E. 2. Construdtion According to source, construction of this pistol was almost identical With that of the Makarov with the exception of a device for full-auto? matic, fire, an adjustable rear sight and the use of a wooden holster which could be attached to the pistol butt for use as a shoulder stook. Both weapons fired the same 9.2 mm ammunition. The Stetchkin was also , twice the size of the Makarov. Characteristics Caliber 9.2 mm (as told by a battalion 50X1 offider)2 Model "Stetchkin" Operation Blowback Type of Fire Selective - three position selector; top- safety; central- semi-automatic; and lower- full-automatic. Clean- ing accessories were carried in holster. Length ApproX 14.57 inches. Bore Source claimed that the bore was chromed. Markings, stamped Year of manufacture and serial num- ber were on the left side rear of receivet and the serial number is also under the barrell on the slide front. the 50X1 serial number of the weapon issued to.: the Bn CO was and that it 50:00 bare a stamp indicating the year of manufacture as 50X1 Comment: This weapon, as described by source, appears to be similar in construction to the new Soviet 9.2 mm pistol, Model Makarov, which was brought by source together with eight rounds of 9.2 mm ammunition.
