CHARACTERISTICS DATA ON SOVIET ARMY "STETCHKIN"
Introduction
This report covers sources information on a rAlativelv new Soviet semi- and

full-automatic pistol, Model "Stetchkie. 1
1. Issue_
Source stated that this pistol hsla haPn issued to certain battalion
officers at Some unknown date the 1st Mtrs
Inf Bn. These included the battalion CO, tne bsrcalin chief of staff,

and all company CO's in the battalion, making a total of six pistols
thus issued. Source added that this number was prescribed in the
battalion T/O & E.
2. Construdtion
According to source, construction of this pistol was almost identical
With that of the Makarov with the exception of a device for full-auto?
matic, fire, an adjustable rear sight and the use of a wooden holster
which could be attached to the pistol butt for use as a shoulder stook.
Both weapons fired the same 9.2 mm ammunition. The Stetchkin was also ,
twice the size of the Makarov.

Comment: This weapon, as described by source, appears to
be similar in construction to the new Soviet 9.2
mm pistol, Model Makarov, which was brought by
source together with eight rounds of 9.2 mm
ammunition. A complete technical report on the
Makarov is being prepared by the 81st Ord TIT.
