On that oecasiol, a Government directive was issued which determined the basis on whio) an individual would be dismissed. The directive considered the followi g factorss a. How well the employes did his job, fulfilled his norm, etc. b. Financial circumstances of the employee, including the number of employed persons in his household. e. Political background and attitude of the employee, such as member- ship in the Party, mass organizations, etc. 2. Of InurryAlr? 1,000 employees, a total of Approximately 400 was dismissed in two groups; the ftrst group was dismissed in summer 1954 and the other group in fall 1954. 3. Most of the imploes dismissed by the Central Committee of the Union of Working Youth DISC were the wives of members of the 01. too, dismissed its employees under the conditions of the above directive. 4. After the dismissals had been accomplished, there was wide-spread dis- content; however, the Government assured those who had been dismissed that they would receive an unemployment benefit for one month to amount to the total of their last month's salary.
