is virtually the same as the 12th Mechanised Division at Brest; that is, a
wartime T/O of 14,500, peacetime T/0 of 6,500, and an actual strength of
approximately 9,000. The T/G for. an infantry division is'the same as for a
mechanized division. A tank division has a wartime strength of approximately
8,000 and a peacetime T/0 of about 5,300. The present strength, however, is 50X1
approximately 5,000 ? 6,000.
The eacetime T/O is set at 6,500, but the average strength 50X1
was approximately 9,000. This larger number of 9,000 is due to the inclu-
sion of rotating draftees. Although the unit is not equipped at full wartime

1. The wartime T/0 strength of the 12th Guards Mechanized Division
divisions deep within the USSR have approximately the same
the average strength of a mechanized division inside the USSR
strength as those on the borders,, The reason is that all divi0ions bear
an equitable burden of training.
