Uniforms
1. Personnel of the -Hungarian Air Force and Army wore olive drab uniforms. The blouse
had a high collar, two breast and two side pockets and five brass buttons. The HAP
insignia was a blue rhomboid patch, about two cm wide and five an long, with a
white edge two cm wide. Staff sergeants and grades above wore a wing and propelled
insignia of gold and a brass button with the national seal on the collar oatch.
Rank insignia was worn on shoulder boards about 12 cm long and 43,- cm wide. The.
back-ground of the shoulder boards worn by the Air Force was blue. First three
graders and commissioned officers wore Sam Browne belts and. a Soviet-type 7.62
caliber pistol was worn as a side arm. The lager four grades wore flight caps,
with the armed forces insignia on the front. This insignia was a .fiVe-pointed red
star, superimposed on three circles of red, shite and green. First three graders
and officers wore visor caps with a brass Insignia representing the national seal..

Point #1. Olive drab cloth epaulet of a private, sewn to the blouse.
Point ,#2. Olive drab epaulet of a private 1st class sewn to the blouse. A
transversal silver stripe, about five mm wide was three cm rrom the
edge of the epaulet.
Point #3. Olive drab cloth epaulet of a corporal sewn to the blouse. It had
two silver stripes about five mm wide which were three cm from the
edge of the epaulet The space between the stripes was approximately
one am.
Point lei. Olive drab cloth epaulet of a sergeant, sewn to theblouse. There
were three five,mm silver stripes about three cm fro-el the edge of
the blouse.
Point #5. Removable cloth shoulder board of a staff sergeant, with a medium
blue background. There was one "T" shaped gold stripe about eight
mm wide. The shoulder board also had a white edge, approximately
three mm wide.
Point #6. Removable cloth shoulder board of a technical sergeant; medium blue.
It had a "T" shaped gold stripe about eight mm wide and a eold,
transversal stripe, eight mm wide; also a white edge, three mm wide.

Removable cloth Shoulder board of a master sergeant; medium blue.
There was a "T" shape gold stripe about eight mm wide, and two
transversal gold stripes, eight mm wide, spaced five mm apart. It
had a white edge, three mm wide.
Medium blue shoulder board for a lieutenant junior grade, with a
gold longitudinal stripe, five mm wide, on which a five-pointed
silver star was superimposed. It had a white edge approximately
three mm wide and gold piping three mm wide.
. Medium blue shoulder board of a lieutenant with a five-pointed gold
star. It had a white edge three mm wide, and gold piping of the

Point #10. AO. Insignia for all the Hungarian Armed Forces which was a red star
with a diameter of about 50 cm, superimposed on three circles of
red, white ane green. The diameter of the red outer circle was
about 40 cm. This insignia was painted on aircraft and vehicles.

Point #11. Collar patch which denoted the branches of the service, according to
the color. It was about five cm long and two cm wide. The colors
representing the various branches are as follows:
