Oblast - were inducted into the service at this time. There were no women inductees. only. two men rejected for military service, One was totally deaf; the other had extremely poor vision. The preinduction physical examination was very superficial and unless a prospective inductee complained of some malady, he was rarely examined4 (~f ) (g) (h) (1) All of the 1500 men of the class of 1928 from the Bryanskaya Oblast inducted for active duty on 27 Nov 48 were also on the train which arrived in German& on 10 Feb 4+9. (3) (k) All of the 1500 men on the train were given their unit assignments while still-on the train, 20 Only the classes of 1928, 1929, 1930 and 1931 are presently serving in the Soviet Zone of Germany, ~ There were some members of the classes of 1926 and 1927 in the Soviet Zone, but all of these were career soldiers. The wartime T /O calls for 140 . officers and men. (b) There were members of the 1928, 1929 classes officers are granted 45 days annual leave. Enlisted men are never granted leave except in extreme emergencies and then only upon request for leave which must be initiated by the soldier's family or relatives through the local Raionvoyenkomat in his home town.
