There were radio sets at the posts in Lassing and Grosshoellenstein wherd men on duty, listened in to broadcasts of the VOA and the BBC. Reception of VOA was best after 0200 hours when most other stations had closed down. BBC broadcasts were difficult to hear because of 'arm-nine. The broad- casts were heard on various wavelengths butrbest results on 41 m and 350 m. 25X1 These broadcasts were listened to mainly out of curiosity and were regarded as counter propaganda to the Soviet broadcasts. Another rumor was that Zhukov wanted to send the Jews to Palestine, as they are not popular in the USSR. One shipment of 2000 Jews actually left the USSR but they were all drowned on the way. When Zhukov discussed with Stalin the desirability of sending the Jews out of the USSR, Stalin's second wife, who is a Jewess, pulled out a gun and shot at Zhukov. Whatever Zhukov wanted to do to improve-the living conditions of the people he was obstructed and re- ceived no support from the other leaders. Rumors are current that Zhukov wanted to come over to the West. 13.
