Vladi~nirskava Oblast, a own of about 30,000 people,.the
Radiozavod ~adio Factory manufactures radio receivers, radio
transmitters, electromotors and general rada.o equipment, It
holds third place in production of this kind in the Soviet
Union. The plant employs about. 10, 000 men and young women.
2. In Kolichugino ~618N-3g21y, Vladimi_rskaya Oblast, about
140 kms from Moscow, i~ the large nonferrous metal plant,
Zavod Tsvetnykh Metallov. Aluminum, copper and tungsten
allays are mL~,de there. It also produces duraluminum for airpla.nesD
Most of their skilJ_ed employees are graduates of a four-year
tecYinieal school 'Takhnikum', as are also other specia.la_sts in
nonferrous metals. The emnlo;Tees are very wel_1_ r,:-1;d., a.nd the
work is secret. t~.ny employees do not know the purpose of thea.:r
work. The plant employs around 20,000 workers, rand consists
of a number of low, r~.mbling buildings covered with glass roof.
These buildings are only about four meters high.
