Chemical Industry Plant No 3 (Saklady Przemysly Chenicznego
Erg 3), an ep,losive plant, was located at Krupski Mlyn
L.5034-1838E/, Poland. This plant was built in 1935 and
was assigned to the United Chemical Industry Plants, Inc
(Zjednoczone Saklady Przemysly). The director since 1949
was engineer (Thu) Kosciukiewicz, a man of about 55 years
of age, and known as an expert on explosives.
2. The plant had the following divisions:
(a) nitrogen division "N"
(b) dynamite division "D"
(c) ammonium nitrate explosives division "A."
(d) detonators division
(e) analytical laboratory
3. Raw materials used in this plant were : glycerin, sulphuric
acid, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, TNT, sodium carbonate
and sodium chloride.
3.. Products and their disposition were:
(a) Nitroglycerin - produced specifically for the plant's
use in the further production of dynamite and ammonium
nitrate explosives. The process used Vas the continuous
method ie, nitrating of glycerin in the presense of
sulphuric acid (production figures unknown).
