1. During the German occupation, there was only a flying school at Prerov. After
the withdrawdof the German armies, the hanzars were blown up. From 1946 -to
1951k the airport was renovated, the airfield extended, and a new navigation
building constructed. On the roof Of the navigation building there is an
antenna and wind sock. This ie the only building on the airfield. There are
two concrete runways on the airfield. One can be .seen fm the road leading
to the airport; the other is not visible because it is hidden by the forest.
Underground hangars were built in the forest. At the beginning of 1952 there
were six jet-planes stationed on the airfield.
Until the end of January 1952, the area where the-military airport in Vysocany
near Bor was subsequently constructed contained the following buildings: movie
theatre; kitchen; canteen; three barracks and eta two-etory buildings. Plans
called for the construction of two concrete runways on the airfield and equip-
ment for operations by all kinds of plates. About 50 civilian employees and
the entire 2nd Company of the 2nd Auxiliary Technical Battalion of about 150
men were employed in the construction of the airbags. The construction was
supervised by the A13tASTA7, enterprise Karlovy. Vary. The number of workee had
to be raised to 1,000 in April 1952, including units of the armed forces and
civilian employees.
3. Another airforce base Is under construction in Podborany,,about 40 kilometers
from Karlovy Vary.
