The production of cement in Czechoslovakia has been (and, probably.
still is) on a very high level. The quality of cement produced in
Czechoslovakia was higher than that produced in the majority of Euee-
pean countries. An the cement plants, without exception, have been
nationalized.
2. Here is a list of all cement plants based on their former ownership
prior to nationalization:
(a) Kralodvorska cementarna (Kraluv Dvur cement plant) is a joint-stock
company in Prague. This company awns the cement plant in Kraluv
Dvur near Beroun and another one in Cizkovice. Both plants work
wlth rotary kilns. They produce natural portiand cement, high-early-
strength eement ealled "Standard", (zalizoportian) (ferroeportland)
ferro.portland cement, friable cement, and white portland cement
called "Albeeco".
(b) A portland cement plant in Radotin near Prague is owned by the
firm of "Prastav", a joint-stock company in Prague. This plant
has shaft furnaces with movable grates. It produces normal port-
land cement, high-early-strength portland cement called "Rekord",
mixed cement ferro-portland, and friable cement.
Podolska cementarna (Podol cement plant), a joint-stock company in
Prague, owns a plant in Podol near Prague. The plant has shaft
furnaces with movable grates. It produces normal portland cement,
high-early-strength portland cement called "Podol-Special", and
mixed slag-portland cement.

Retenick cementarna (Retenici cement plant) is a joint-stock
company. The plant is in Rednice. It has shaft furnaces with
movable grates, and it produces normal portland cement, high-
early-strength portland cement, and mixed cement called "Meteor".
Tovarna na portlandsky cement .(Portland cement plant) Leo Czech
a spol (and company) is in Brno - Malomerici. It has rotary
kilns and produces normal tortland cement, high-early-strength
portland cement called "Super", and friable cement.
(f) Stramberski-Vitkovicke cementarny (Stramberk Vitkovice cement
plants) is a joint-stock company in Moravske Ostrava - Vitkovice.
It owns a cement plant in Stramberk Which works with rotary kilns
and a slag-portland cement plant in Vitkovice. These plants
manufacture normal portland cement, high-early-strength portland
cement called "slechteny (refined) cement", slag-portland cement,
and mixed cement called "Siccofix-cement".
Khrovicka tovarna na portlandsky cement (Kurovice portland eement
plant) Seilern a spol (and company) is located in Ilumacov. It
manufactures portland cement in a shaft furnace with movable
grates.
Slovenske tovarny na portlandsky cement (Slovak portland cement
plants) Lietavska Lucka Ladce, a joint-stock company, own a
plant in Lietavska Lucka and another one in Ladce. Both work
with shaft furnaces with movable grates. They manufacture
normal portland cement, high-early-strength portland cement,
and slag-portland cement.
(i) Tovarna na bauxitovy cement (Bauxite cement plant) in Lae'ete, a
joint-stock company, owns a plant manufacturing aluminosilaeate-
cements (slinuteho hlinitaveho cementu) called "Bauximent v
Ladcich" (Bauximent in Ladle).

Hornosrnske cementarny a kamenolomy (cement plants and qaarries)
is a joint-stock company in Hornie Srnie. The plant is lacated
in Hornie Srnie and has automatic shaft furnaces with moaable
grates. It produces normal portland cement, high-early-etrength
portland cement called. "Viara", friable cement, and mixed cent
called "Yura",
(k) "Union" tovarna na portiandsky cement ("Union" portant -meat
plant), a -joint-stock company in Bratislava, owns a plant in
Stupava equipped with rotary kilns. It produces normal
portland cement, high-early-strength portland cement called
"Robin'", and friable cement.
3. In Czechoslovakia, quick-drying portland cement (corresponding to
State Speeifieations 1091, paragraph 17) is used for reinforced
concrete construction. In addition to portland cement, it is permis-
sible to use blast-furnace cement and reinforced portland.
4. Reinforced portland cement must eontain a minimum of 70 per cant
portland cement by weight and a maximum of 30 per cent basie blast-
furnace slag. Impurities must not exceed 3 per cent of the total
weight.
5. Blast-furnace cement must contain a minimum of 20 per cent portland
cement and a maximum of 80 per cent basic blast-furnace slag, im-
purities must not exceed 3 per cent of the total weight.
