1. Two bridges over the Prut River. One is for motor vehicle traffic and is of
steel and concrete construction. It is four lanes wide and will accommodate
large trucks fully loaded. The second bridge is a railroad bridge with one
track. It is also of steel construction and is located about two hundred feet
west of the first bridge. Both bridges were erected in the middle 1920,s.
2. Artillery barracks located in Sadagura, a small village about two kilometers
north of the bridge.
Garamare railroad station. This building fronts on Garet Street. This is the
larger of the two stations in the town. It is used by both passenger and
freight trains. There are about 35 tracks in the terminal yards. Trains arrive
there from Bucharest and Lwow, Poland, and
from Hotin on the Dniester.
4. Headquarters for the town's military commander.
5. A town square named Piata Unirei.
6. City hall. Three floor brick construction. Birth, death and tax re.(_ords are
kept here. All records of road maintenance are kept here. Police headquarters,
city jail and a fire station are also located in this building. Legai descrip-
tions of real property are kept here.
7. A town square named Piata Alexandri.
8. municipal theater.
9. Railroad administration building for the province of Bukovina.

10. University of Cernauti.
11. Roman Catholic Archbishop's residence. It is situated on a prominent hill.
12. Principal Jewish synagogue.
15. Stefan cel Mare Street.
14. Iancu Flondor Street. The town's principal stores are located on this street.
15. Town square. Not identified.
16. Conservatory of NMsic.
17. Administration building of the Province of Bukovina. The Prefect of the Province
has offices here. Among the records kept here are those of roads and forests
as well as health statistics.
18. Cuciurul Mare Street. This leads to the small village of Cuciurul which is
about 20 kilometers south of Cernauti.
19. Greet Orthodox Church.
20. Barracks for infantry troops. They will accommodate about 2,500 soldiers. This
barracks contains a small military prison.
21. Bukovina provincial penitentiary. Three stories of brick construction and one
floor underground.

26, 27 and 28. Barracks for infantry, artillery and mountain troops. This is the
principal military area in the town.

31. Main post office. Telephone and telegraph offices are located in this building.
Four floors, brick construction.
32 Spitalul Central Hospital, About eight hundred beds. It is operated by the
health department of the national government. Only patients who reside in
Bukovina Province are accepted.
33. Insane asylum.
34. A small hospital operated by Di (fnu) Ferlievici. It is located in a residence-
type building.
35. This, street, name not identified, leads to a small airport which is about three
kilometers southeast of the insane asylum.
