1. ASID Serum Institute is located in Dessau, Seminarplatz 3. ASID Serum Institute
Weissensee,Serlin-Weissensee, Grosse Seestresse [Soviet Zone] was formerly affiliated
but is now operated by the government as an independent institution. The ASID Serum
Institute Berlin W35, Potsdamer Strasse 149 [US Zone] was a branch of the Central
41nstitute at Dessau, but since 1947 has operated independently and has no connection
with Dessau.
2. In 1950 there were about 500 employees at Dessau, working, 48 hours per week. Sera,
vaccines, and pharmaceuticals for human and veterinarian use were produced. Raw materials
were obtained in Germany [Soviet Zone] except agar-agar which had to be imported.
The output was largely consumed in Eastern Germany, with some small quantities going to
other countries behind the curtain. Exports to the USSR as reparations were discontinued
in 1949. Small quantities of sera and pharmaceuticals for veterinary use only were sold
to Soviet Army units stationed in Eastern Germany.
4. Since 1949 the Soviets, including veterinarians, have shown no interest in the
:Institute.

500 liters per week at a cost of DM 30.00 per liter. According to numerous reports of
