1. Western edge of Nemas River in Alytus.
2. Airfie)d. It is located about one kilometer west of point three. There are
no paved strips.
3. Large barracks built by Soviets in 1940. About six thousand troops can be
quartered here. It is located about four kilometers north and west along the
main road from point seven.
Lumber mill. It is located about one and one-half kilometers east of point
three.
5. From this point it is about one kilometer to point seven.
6. Catholic church. It is located about 150 meters north of the bridge.
7. Steel suspension bridge with concrete deck built in 1937. It is two lanes
vide and about 50I: t above the water level, not know the weight
capacity but large German tanks frequently crossed this brie

during World far . More than two-thirds of the buildings in Alytus are
south of this bridge and south of the Nemas River. The town extends about
two or three kilometers west of this bridge, eight kilometers south of it,
and about three kilometers east of it. Both the north and south approaches
to this bridge are level.

River about five hundred meters east of point seven. Pipes from this tower are
underground and lead to the railroad station (point 33).

10. Thermal electric power plant. It is located about 150 meters west of the
principal north-south street and about 350 meters south of the river. Brick
building - one floor. Its windows are very long and extend from almost ground
level to the ceiling. It was built about 1930.
11. Flour mill. Itis located about one hundred meters south of point 10.

Court building 7 two floors - stone construclon. It is located about eight
hundred meters south' of point seven.
13. Catholic Church. It is located about two hundred meters east of point 12.
14. Western edge of the most thickly populated east-west streets.
15. This point is about one kilometer south of point seven.

17. Three floor brick building covered with plaster and painted white. The police

located about 150 meters south of point 17, -

21. Large park. Adjoining it on the east side is a dense forest. This forest was
used as a biding place by. Lithuanian partisans who fought the Germans in World
War II.,
22. Very old vehicle bridge built .by the Russians before World War I. It is of wood
construction,, two lanes', about 25 meters above the water level and about two
hundred meters long,.
23. Road to Sitanda (54o231F, 23o391E). This is a two.lane road paved with small
stones. Drainage is excellent.
24. Balt- it if, located about 350-404 meters south of the town hall.
'25. Alytus hospital - two buildings two floors each - brick construction - about
250 beds.

28. Gymnasium one floor-- frame construction - built In an "E" form,

30. Lumber mill - located about three kilometers southwest of point five.
31. The road leading south from point seven to point 31 is about eight kilometers.
Proceeding south of the bridge (point seven) the first two kilometers of this road
are, H.: paved with large cobblestones, then the road divides with a small park-
way about five to eight meters wide. The road from this point continues this
way for six kilometers. This part of the road is paved with small stones. The
entire road from point seven to point 31 is two lanes wide.

32. Elementary school - two floors - brick constructiod - finished in 1939. It is
located about five hundred meters south of the gymnasium.
33. Railroad station and terminal. This is for passenger and freight trains. It
is located about four kilometers east and slightly north of point 31. This
railroad runs to Mariampole (54�33'N, 23�22'E) and from there to Kaunas. Within
the town there are two railroad tracks, but outside of town it is a single�track
railroad_
34. Soldiers' church in center of an excercise field. It is located about three
hundred meters south of point 33.
35. Large barracks
36. Southern edge of Nemas River in Alytus.
Most residences in Alytus are one-story buildings of frame construction. Most
have hip roofs with wooden shingles. .ater is obtained from wells - it is pure.
