The Riga Spirta Rektifikacijas Iestade (Riga Alcohol Distillery) is layout of plant as described belwAi Street and Krona Street in Riga. in 1936. 2o The plant area is surrounded by an eight foot wire and spike fence. shown as (A) on Exhibit (A) 's a five story red brick building addition to the administrative staff, a laboratory and the bottling (B) is the location of the three distilling columns (two continuous (C) is tne storage and distribution area for purified alcohol. This about 10 meters high. (D) Crude alcohol storage tanks which are about 10 meters high. located at Pioniero jee Exhibit-A for (B) is a red brick two-story building for storage. Each employee as he passed through tile gate had to punch a button. A red or green light would come on according to chance. If the red light came on the employee was subjected to an investigation of his person and identity. Depending on the circuit set up there was a 1:2 to 1:5 chance of getting a red light. (G) is the power plant, a 20 meter white brick building. Superheated steam was produced at a pressure of 35 kilograms per square centimeter. The product of tae distillery was purified alcohol,made from raw alcohol received from district distilleriesland absolute alcohol made by the method of azeotropic distillation. The buildings are approximately three stories high on the average, although the height varies with the function in that area. The building was designed around the process. There was a 30 ft brick wall on both sides of the administration building to enclose the whole area. The input capacity of the plant was about five thousand pounds of zinc and five thousand pounds of lead per day. This was the largest factory for mineral paints In the Baltic States. The lead and zinc was imported from other countries.
