THIS IS UNEVALUATED INFORMATION The "Olavaoye Artilleriskoye Upravlenie" (Chief Artillery Directorate or Administration) of the Soviet A had several "U ravlenii" (Directorates or 50X1 Administrations) under its the following designations will indicate their activities. The list of most of the "Upravlenii" follows s (a) "Boyevoi Podgotovki" (Combat Training) (b) "Bove Pripasi" (Ammunition). There were probably two sections under this ones (1) "Artilleriskoye Snaabzheniya" (Artillery Supply), and (2) supply of aun.ition for other arms. (c) "Sna~abzheniya Aruzhie"" (Weapons Supply). Also probably had two sectionss (1) for artillery, and (2) for otber arms, such as infantry and cavalry. (d) "Tekhniohiski Sluzhbi" (Technical Service). not certain that there was a Directorate of this names 50X1 (e) "Organization. Planovi" (Organization and Planning) dealt with T/tag T/O and E , , preparing requests for ordering new weapons, and related subjects (f) "Mabilizationi" (Mobilization). not certain whether the Artillery 50X1 had a separate.directorate for this as there was an overall mobilization section for the whole Army. There was a "Tsentralnoye Artelleriskoye Komstruktorskoye Bureau" (Central Artillery Construction, or Design, Bureau). Its main activity consisted of furnishing guidance to KBs (design bureaux) in mil, ary factories. 3. The head of the Chief Artillery Dire torate prior to World War II was Marshal Kulik. At present 595g this post is held by Chief Marshal 50X1 of Artie-;:y 'oronov. If it is not Voronov, then it is Marshal 50X1 C'h istiakov. 4. The Chief Artillery Directorate was in charge of artillery and of all weapons capable of being fired (except perhaps for those weapons utilized in tanks and aircraft) and of providing ammunition (except for that used in aircraft weapons).. The Directorate also had the responsibility of storing artillery and other weapons, inspecting, repairing, and providing all weapons, and train- ing artillery personnel. 5. The Artillery Technical Committee was concerned with research and development. New doctrines were developed at the Military Artillery Academy and by the Military Academy of Artillery Sciences.
