's meeting. The Chairman passed around copies of the two OER publications which replaced the EIC annual report, International Trade and Transport of the People's Republic of China (EIC R16 Series). These publications were submitted to the EIC members for pre-publication review. The Chairman announced that the EIC study on economic require- ments, undertaken in response to requests from the DCI and senior officials of the US Government was prepared by an EIC ad hoc Require- ments Working Group and published in June 1972 as EIC R21, Economic Intelligence Requirements (SECRET/NFD). All EIC members and associate members were invited to participate in the preparation of this study. Abolishment of Subcommittee The Chairman of the EIC Subcommittee on General Economic Analysis in his FY 1972 annual report to the EIC recommended that this subcommittee be abolished. The subcommittee was completely inactive during this fiscal year and had held no formal meetings for several years. The Chairman of the EIC stated that a memorandum, recom- mending abolishment of the Subcommittee on- General Economic Analysis, would be sent to EIC members at a later date. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: The minutes of the meeting of 1 May 1972 (EIC-M-133) were approved. REVIEW AND APPROVAL OF "AID AND TRADE ACTIVITIES OF COM- MUNIST COUNTRIES IN LESS DEVELOPED COUNTRIES OF THE FREE WORLD, 1972 (EIC R14-S27): Representatives of the Departments of the Treasury, Army and Commerce did not attend but telephoned their concurrence in the report to the EIC Secretariat prior to the meeting. The report was reviewed by the membership present and was approved.
