1. Review of the intelliEsce, Product
The Subcommittee took no action.
2. Research and Collection Deficiencies

3. Review of Substantive Peers
The Subcommittee reviewed and approved for submissica to
the RIC the, transportation section, of EIC-R16-83.
4. Review of Deposals for Exter'l Rea. rch
The Subcommittee took no action.. .
5. Maintenance of Agreed Basic Statistics
The Subcommittee=has been kept informed of the status of
the CIA/ORR, program for storing basic trade data in an IBM system.
To date the data contained in the annual Soviet foreign trade
publications 1955-60 have been machined and are recoverable
according to the SITC commodity categories or the Soviet clauasifi.-
cation. The machining of file of Bloc trade agreements, formerly
maintained by the Dement of State, will shortly be completed.

6. Projects undertaken at the Request of the SIC
The Subcommittee prepared, jointly with the Subccemiittee
on Transportation, a summary report.. EIQ-Rl6-S3,, entitled "A
Summary of International. Trade and Transport of Communist China
1961."
7. Intelligence Research Techniques
The Subcommittee took no action.
8. eciel Coordination Functions of the Subcommittee
The Subccemiittee continued to serve in an advisory
capacity to the USIB Committee on Exchanges.
9. Evaluation of the Role of the Subcommittee.
The Subcommittee?s activities were less extensive than
usual in Fiscal Year 1962, largely because of unavoidable delays
in the production of research reports in member agencies.
B. Future Program of the Subcommittee
The Subcommittee plans both formal coordination and informal
discussion of the findings of research reports on the balance of
payments of certain Sino-Soviet Bloc countries and on other sub-
jects as research is completed.
