Evaluation of the Role of the Subcommittee
The need for the Subcommittee as a medium for interagency review and
coordination of intelligence provided for economic defense activity apparently
has ceased to exist. The intelligence coordination is carried on within the
working groups of the EDAC/ACEP committee structure and to some degree
within other subcommittees of the EIC.
The Subcommittee Annual Report for FY 1964 raised the question of its
usefulness and the membership decided that it be continued on a stand-by basis
for one more year. There is no objection to the DOD proposal that this subcom==
mittee be abolished. It is not believed that the abolition would have a detrimental
effect on the quality or quantity of the intelligence support rendered to the
economic defense committeed by CIA and other agencies.
