SUBJECT. Working Group on Aid and Trade Activities of
Communist Countries in Less Developed Areas
of the Free World
REFERENCE-. Summary of Discussion at Meeting of
11 January 1966 and Proposed Plan
of Action, para. 5
1. Referenced document notes a proposal that the Standing Working
Group on Aid and Trade Activities of Communist Countries in Less
Developed Areas of the Free World be made into a Subcommittee of
the EXC.
2. This Working Group was established in February 1956 for the
purpose of assembling and producing coordinated intelligence from all
sources on Communist economic activities pertaining to underdeveloped
areas.
3. Since this group has a specific production responsibility and is
not a committee in the traditional sense, the Chairman proposes to have
it remain as a Working Group unless members have some reasons for
re-establishing it as a Subcommittee of the EIC.
4. The Terms of Reference (attached) have now been in effect for
10 years and it would seem appropriate at this time to ask the Working
Group to draft a revision for submission to the EIC.
5. This item is scheduled for discussion at the forthcoming meiatirg
on 30 March 1966.
