Informally accepts as agreed statistics the CIA /ORR data published in the ORR Economic Intelligence Statistical Handbook and discussion of individual agency statistics as they are presented to the subcommittee. Participation in Conferences on 25X1X7 Soviet Bloc Electronics Intelligence. Liaison with SIC Electronics Subcom- mittee continues on a regular basis, Publications: Presented two jointly written papers, Development and Trends in the Use of Low Frequency/Very Low Frequency Communications in the USSR and Communist China (DIVA and ONI, and Soviet Air Defense Communications System: A Description and Ap raisal (CIA and NSA) and one subcommittee coordinated paper, Trends in Electronics Production in the USSR (CIAO 0 25X1X7 25X1X7 The subcommittee made considerable progress in establishing the Communications Equipment Desiation List as a working research tool. The listing now contains over 1, 000 equipment entries and additions and corrections are being maintained on a continuing basis. Special machine listings by frequency of equipment and of specialized equipment have been provided in response to special requests. Evaluation of the Role of the Subcommittee The subcommittee continues to provide an effective means for coordination and discussion on a current basis of intelligence activities of its member agencies. Of particular importance is the opportunity to exchange and evaluate current intel- ligence. As well as supplying a medium for interchange of ideas, the subcom- mittee has helped create a broader knowledge of the functions of the intelligence community through specialized briefings.
