Dissemination of NIS to Non-IAC Government
Departments and Agencies
1. The NIS Committee, at a meeting on 16 April 1957
approved release, on a continuing basis, to the Maritime Adminis-
tration, Department of Commerce, of NIS Section 35 and Supplement
I (Ports and Naval Facilities) on all NIS areas.
2. Since the NIS Committee has determined the agency
need-to-know for the above categories of information, no further
IAC action is necessary (IAC-D-45/ 12. 17, 27 February 1956,
(Revised), as approved by the IAC on 12 March 1956).
3. Please substitute the attached Revision 9 of Part II for
Part II of IAC-D-45/12 (Revision 8), 23 January 1957.

Non-IAC Government Departments and Agencies
The following non-IAG agencies have requested the NIS elements
listed below. The NIS Committee has determined the agency need-to-know
for categories of information contained in the sections outlined. To insure
that the need-to-know qualification is continually met, the producing lAG
agency will determine the releasability to the non-IAG agencies listed of
each unpublished element or revision falling within the categories set forth
and where non-releasability is determined, the producing agency will so
indicate to CIA at the time of submission of the element or revision to
CIA for publication. CIA, as executive agency, in the absence of such
indication will release the elements according to the following list:
