The 89th ` a n Rifle Division, which is composed of eniane, fought its
way frow the fc othills of the Gaueasus, from Malgobek and Mosdok, through
Tamau, Xercc, Sevastopol, Poland, Berlin, and to the Elbe.
2. It was cited by Stalin nine times for distinguished battle service under

Maj. Gen. Safaryan. It was awarded the title "Taman" for its participation
in the liberation of the Taman Peninsula; the Order of the Red Star for
liberating Sevastopol; and the Order of Kutusov for the capture of Berlin.
In March and. April 1945, the division was in battle on the Oder River two
kilometers south of Frankfurt on the lest White Russian Front. During the
night of 22-23 April 1915. units of the division occupied. Frankfurt. On
24 April 1945, it advanced in the direction of Berlin.
11o On 30 April 1935, the division entered. dboldthain Park in Berlin. The
division was included among the troops commanded by Gen. Kusnetsov, and on
2 May 1915 it advanced in the direction of the Bibs River to join the let
American Any.
