2. By placing altogether for election only as many candidates as it would be possible
to elect directly, the German parties in the town of Flensburg have succeeded in
establishing a United Front. In this way they hoped to induce the German-minded
voters to choose German candidates regardless of party affiliations. In South
Mader this United Front baa been formed )cr merging SPD and ON members, without
including members from other parties. In Slesvig, however, attempts to form a
united party failed. There was strong oppositiam from plea:bunt peasants under
the leadership of Buntsen of Langstedt, so the Gereen-ininded had to be content
with an attempt to establish a united front in Sleavig Town. This too, was on..
=cassaba. In Flenaburg County, Councillor Lake has been actively promoting
a united party, thus showing that he is becoming more and more Denameiaiimilei
politically although officially he always exhibits the greatest understanding
and good eill toward the Danes.
3, No mention is made of the fact that the British have prohibited this uniting of
Artie's, as well ac the dieeemination of anti-Danish propaganda. Possibly this
refers only to amateimmi lists for elections or the placing of metes on a joint
ballot. In any case, it is conddered of chief importance that the parties have
reduced the number of candidates in order to get the voters to vote tor several
