I,, The Pro f a torneu Sawot o This is a factory making searchlights which is
situated at the edge of the city of Moscow and can be reached by trolley
number 2, stop Ilitsch Square. The factory consists of approximately 12
buildings of red brick; some of them have been covered with a coat of
plaster0 The searchlights and all the appertaining equipment and fixtures
are made in this concern,, from the smallest item up to the assembly work,,
with the exception of the carriages which are only mounted in this factory.
The plant employs approximately 2,000 persons
2,, An Electra-Carbon and Soot Factory near the Station Kudinowo,, 25 kilometers
from Moscow in the direction of Nog k,, consisting of three buildings of
red brick,, situated to the left of the railroad. The factory makes soot for
.coal to be used. for s1eotro-motors? It also makes soot for the rubber
I ustr?y.
To the right of the RR station Nudinowo lies the Elektro $Jgli factory ($Leetro '
Carbon factory),, consisting of five to six buildings of red brick? The factory
rakes electrowcarbon, motor-carbon, searchlight- bon, ate,, for the power-

A Carbolite Factory (synthetic horn, vulcanized India-rubber) which lies 60
kilometers from Mos- near the station Stol.bojawa about four to five kilo-
meters from the line,, There are six buildings. The factory makes all
kinds of consumer goods, such as casings for accumulators, steering wheels,,
for cars, knife blades, billard balls, etc,

Security Regulations. Any prospective employee has to fin out a questionnaire;
some of the questions refer even to deceased .family members. A sworn statement
has to be signed, promising that full secrecy will be observed; it is also
pointed out to the employee that the factory in question is essential to the
war effort. The prospective employee has to have two sponsors; both must
belong to the arty and must have been affiliated with it for at least from
three_ to five yearn a This is followed by an investigation by the M. The
procedure takes about three months and only then will the person be hired. He
has to sign an affidavit which directs him to observe strict secrecy; it In
also pointed out to him that he and his nearest relatives will suffer the death
pen lity in case he should divulge any information.
