SUPPLEMENT
1. There are 713,000 hectares of forest in Slovenia. Of these,
178,500 are state-owned or state-controlled and 30,000 are
in areas under military control.
2* About 100 sawmills, of s1.1 sizes, are operating and there are
about 100 dumps for industrial timber.
Exploitation of these resources and sawing is entirely con-
t:vo3.led by f'LES" , the State forestry organization. 'I1,ES" is
in t ;=n controlled by the "Commission for Timber Construction"
a 'ihi ch has made a program for the exploitation of timber re-
sources in Slovenia.
At the end of July 1946 about 6,000 persons were engaged in
the timber industry in Slovenia.
