In the middle of August 1946 a member of the Tientsin Polish Association returned from Shanghai after conferring with Polish Embassy Officials there. He L~ that the Polish Charge d'Affaires., Mr. Kostarski, would come to Tientsin early in September to register the Poles w th the present Polish government. 2. The president of the Tientsin Polish Association agreed that the registration was to take place but announced that it was up to. each individual member to decide ithetr or not he wanted to reg'r.er. VMost of the Poles who registered were Jews who registered not because they were in sympathy with the present Polish goverment but because of the advantage of having a Polish passport' recogni ;ed, by the Polish goverment.
